Hi Thomas
I've done quite a few solvent systems. Because of the solvent process and
the heaters used on the printer I've never had a problem with drying times.
I usually leave the prints half an hour to be safe but that's it.
The major problem with solvents is getting the inking right, with the added
complication of pre and post heat settings. Good advice from the media
supplier can be useful. Also some of the medias can be challenging - vinyl,
fine mesh and translucent aren't uncommon.
On the plus side display graphics customers are way less picky than
pre-press and in my experience they have nothing they want to match to and
just want "nice colour". They tend to understand the limited gamut of their
devices and are usually impressed with the results a good profile can get
them.
Regards
Rob Griffith
