Could be confusion in terminology here. Personally, I view
linearization and calibration as a very similar thing but both
distinct from actual "profiling" or building a LUT. Linearization and/
or calibration are simply used to bring a device into an optimum
printing condition prior to printing a profiling chart. It's also a
point of process control that can be monitored to keep the printer in
the same printing state so as not to require frequent re-profiling to
account for shifts in the device's printing behavior.
