Marco,
If Apple is simply using ColorSync technology (ICC profiles, the
Apple CMM, etc.), fine. If they're using the ColorSync Utility to
set CM properties for Aperture, I'll groan. Nikon finally fixed a
bug with Nikon Capture where the color management properties of the
app were set with the ColorSync Utility (really!). After the upgrade
to Tiger and the changes in OS X's color management practices, it was
no longer possible to specify custom output profiles in Capture - it
was either Nikon Adobe RGB or sRGB. Nikon initially had no plans to
correct Capture's use of the ColorSync Utility, but ultimately they
did. One would think that Apple could avoid such problems, but who
knows... I've never been really impressed with the ColorSync
Utility. It's certainly not in the same league as ColorThink.
I'm actually more interested in what format the "master image" will
be in Aperture, and whether the base format is DNG. Sidecar files
are a major hassle with digital asset management apps like Portfolio
Server. Time will tell.

Richard, what do you mean? Why?
I don't think that Aperture uses the *ColorSync Utility* application:
according to the promotional copy, it just uses *ColorSync
technology*.
