In my experience with Nikon D2X cameras, there have been very few
images out of many thousands that would justify using Nikon Capture.
I frequently get better image quality from Adobe Camera Raw, and for
quite a while, ACR was the only way I could output into ProPhotoRGB.
On rare occasion, with just the right combination of soft even light
with high ISO and long exposures, Capture will give an output with
lower noise. 99+% of the time, the workflow disadvantages and
miniscule differences in image quality (one way or the other) to me
are not worth any attempt at converting with Capture. Your milage
may vary, but I don't think the choice is as clear-cut as you make it.
