No, Derrick, you can choose any destination space that you want with Nikon Capture - not just one of those three. The output is **rendered** into that colorspace.
I strongly disagree. The profiles are embedded, AND the data is rendered into whatever color space is chosen. It is NOT as if Nikon Capture simply "assigns" a workspace without modifying the output data. This is trivial to prove.
Hi Richard,
Two things occurred to me. First being I left out how I come about these conclusions. Secondly since i skipped writing that piece, I should put the computer away late at night. :)
Anyway, back to the pit............ Nikon does process from nikon internal space to a workspace. BUT!!!!! since you can pick one space destination the "aims" of the processing within nikon capture convert from nikon internal to the workspace you choose, therefore color will remain predictable. This does work for using custom profiling because the "color conversion "pipe"" remains the same. (here's that ugly word......linear or predictable). My apologies for leaving the above segment out of last nights responses. The limitation in this is, you can adjust both gray balance and exposure in Nikon capture but not color. I say not color because you cannot load your custom profile to see the results of any color adjustments you would be making.
again, my apologies for that particular omission last night.
best regards,
