And of course the assumption must also be that the application is making
precise and careful use of both the monitor profile and the profile being
edited.
Which, this being Gretag Macbeth, is probably the case. But one never knows.

The advent of these visually-based, low-priced profile editors could be a
mixed blessing, as more and more people -- with varying levels of expertise
-- feel "empowered" to start messing with profiles, possibly before they
understand the consequences of what they are doing, and with results that
remain to be seen -- and carefully appraised.
Personally, I stay away from editing profiles, and always try to make as
good a profile as I can, and then leave it alone.
