Are you sending in HTML format? If so, the smallest of messages will be too
large for the limit. I have had this experience.
Make sure you format it in plain text.

Is this a recently-introduced limit? I am asking this because, even in the
recent past, I have seen several message on the forum that were much longer
than this recent one of mine.
