I can't believe GMB and X-Rite can't agree on the simplest of things,
a standardized test chart...
I was trying to build an Excel worksheet to map MeasureTool's output
into ColorPort format, or anything readable by Monaco Profiler. So as
to be able to read IT8/7-4 charts in MeasureTool and build profiles in
Monaco.
Guess what? the charts both contain 1617 patches. But not the same
1617 patches, unfortunately. There are 6 patches in which they differ.
present in Monaco Profiler 4.72 but missing in ProfileMaker 5.04:
0 / 0 / 100 / 10
0 / 100 / 0 / 10
0 / 100 / 100 / 10
100 / 0 / 0 / 10
100 / 0 / 100 / 10
100 / 100 / 0 / 10
present in ProfileMaker 5.04 but missing in Monaco Profiler 4.72 :
50 / 40 / 40 / 20
50 / 40 / 40 / 40
50 / 40 / 40 / 60
50 / 40 / 40 / 80
50 / 40 / 40 / 100
and a third repetition of 0/0/0/0 (Monaco has only 2, GMB has 3)
Now, the problem is not so bad because ProfileMaker can use an
arbitrary chart, both for reading in MeasureTool and for building
profiles. So I guess I'll just use Monaco's chart for everything.
Besides, the "pure colors + 10%k" patches strike me as more important
than the "3c offset 50% gray + black" ones.
But still, what a bummer.... I also don't like the fact that ColorPort
is unable to adjust the patch size (height, width, gap) for the
DTP-41. I could save quite some paper using smaller patches than it's
default. Or maybe it can adjust, by editing manually the XML file...
one more experiment to do. But ColorPort is so damn slow reading from
the DTP-41..! I believe it's because it works only in spectral mode,
you can't switch to colorimetric.
