As far as I know, Marco, Adobe evolved AdobeRGB(1998) out of SMPTE-240, a
cinema standard, AFAIK. On the other hand, ProPhoto has evolved from
ROMM-RGB which has its roots into scene vs output reference colorimetry. Two
very different color spaces genesis. But, yes, in all fairness, I agree that
the choice of the two sets of primaries have different trade-offs and should
be mentioned when discussing the relative merits of RGB color spaces.
