Isn't that simple 'chromatic adaptation'? If there is no other source of 'white' visible in the room other than the 'green white' of the projected image on the green wall, the eye/brain will interpret the 'green white' as white.

Frankly, I don't know what to think. My friend claimed him and his small
family never "see" their projected movies with a green cast.
