That's not correct. Metamerism, by definition, requires two samples. Your example of the dress and it's photo reproduction is correctly considered metamerism. You have two samples--the dress and the reproduction! Poor example to make your case. ;-)


By the way, Edwin Land, ... he was able to produce a
full color picture! It was somewhat desaturated, but it did indeed contain
all the colors of the original subject!

Well, not "all" of the original colors by a long shot, but many more than you would expect from a two color reproduction.
