I don't have comparable system, but I believe should work OK.  It isn't that old!  Just middle-aged!  Is the problem with Classic.  I notice that Classic can drag my G4 down to a crawl when not even running.  Look in Activity Monitor, it will appear as "True Blue Environment" and may show as something like 50 + % when not even running any Classic Apps!  Activity Monitor will give you a good idea as to what the CPU(s) are up to.  Also try the MenuMeters utility  (runs in menu bar) freeware on Version Tracker.  I've used this for over two years.  VERY useful.  System should be rebooted every few days also to clean up virtual memory, etc.  You may want to use something like Onyx to clean up system.  Is there plenty of Disk Space?  How about PhotoShops cache?

Good luck
