Steve, I'm not quite sure this is true; some time ago when googling I found laboratory
instruments targeted to "the paper manufacturing industry" with the single purpose of measuring
OBs. If I recall correctly the units in which they measured were alien to me. So I wouldn't be
surprised that deep inside the secret chamber of every paper manufacturer, there lies a spec for
each paper produced that accurately describes the content and even kind of optical brighteners
used.
