Hello Marco,
Impossible is possible here!
I measure a lot of individual samples, without the ruler,
and without holding it (the i1 just rests on the sample).
In such a setup, the first thing that happens is that the
the stiff/heavy USB cable "pulls" the (light) unit out of
position. To make sure this does not happen, I restrain
the cable in whatever way I can find, a book for example.
When I place the unit back on the craddle, the cable
tension can often push the unit out of its base.
So my problem is more USB cables than the unit itself, but
the result is the same. I did not go in too many details
in my response to Martin since the point was to say that
calibration can still pass in these conditions and will be
off, just like a wrong or bad calibration tile.
Overall however, this little problem is minor as I
consider the unit to offer an excellent price/performance
ratio.

Danny Pascale

Hi Danny.
If you place the two back feet of the EyeOne Pro in
their respective hole in
the holder, the head will slide into place over the
tile, without fail (I
tried to "unseat" it that way, but I cannot). It seems
to me that only if
the feet are not in place the head will be found
unseated.
Otherwise it's next to impossible -- that's my sense of
it, at least, based
on the 2 EyeOne Pros I have used so far in my work over
the last few years.
Regards.
