Marco,
In a message dated 4/21/06 1:27:56 AM, you write:
I don't see that in my Epson 2200 driver, but (with NCA selected and my
conversion occurring in the Print with Preview dialog box) my Summary reads:
Color Conversion: Standard
Profile: System Default
Driver may perform custom color correction: true
What? Driver *may* perform custom color correction? After I instruct it to
apply "No Color Adjustment"? I can only hope that this was a programming
oversight by the Epson team (you know, not dotting all the "i"s and crossing
all the "t"s), and that it doesn't correspond to anything actually happening
within the driver. Or so one hopes...
First off, what version of the operating system are you using? And, what is the "system default" profile?
Prior to 10.4.5 for me, this was not an issue and both apps printed the same. BTW - yes, I agree with your *corrected* post re: ID setup of which I have had years of experience with.
BUT - after the conversion takes place in the Adobe app working space>print space handoff to the printer driver, for me at least, despite NCA there was also a conversion of sorts at the driver level. After upgrading from 10.4 to 10.4.5, the driver summary when printing from PS indicated "Generic RGB", but when printing from ID the driver summary indicated "9800 7800 Epson Standard", which is the default registered device profile for the printer. The results when the latter was in the stream printing from ID were vastly different (and unaccaptable) compared to the former in the stream and printing from Photoshop, both using the correct settings in the respective apps and same print profile. So to me there was an obvious conversion at the printer driver level based upon which profile the driver was showing. Thus, I question whether or not NCA is really NCA.
I spent considerable time digging deeply into this, trouble shooting this issue, and manually correcting it. I have not resolved whether or not it was due to an opertating system glitch or driver glitch. And then I began to wonder whether those who are finding inconsitent results at times with all settings presumably correct in the apps, may be having the same problem which lies deeper than most would normally expect or look for.
Best Regards,
Ed
