Steve,

you are right, the 'Optical Brightener Compensation' should be
available, when spectral measurement data will be loaded.

Hi Liane.

Isn't it the case, though, that the "Correct for Optical Brighteners" option
will be available only when a characteristic spectral spike is detected in
the low end (blue) of the spectrum?

I mean to say that the fact in itself that the readings are spectral does
*not* guarantee that the "Correct for Optical Brighteners" option will be
available. The blue spectral spike also has to be present for that to
happen. At least, that is my understanding of how this works.

Based on measurements of a Hahnemüle sample pack the following papers had no FWA (fluorescent whitening agent):

William Turner	b* 1.02
Museum Etching	b* 2.28
German Etching	b* 1.28

The following had a small amount of FWA, perhaps not enough to excite the check box in ProfileMaker:

Photo Rag Duo	b* -0.93
Photo Rag b* -0.64
Photo Rag Satin	b* -0.40

The following has enough FWA that it should trigger the checkbox:

Photo Rag Bright White	b* -4.62

Measured with a Spectrolino equipped with the D65 filter, average of 4 measurements each, white backing; calculated by SpectraShop 2 with 2 degree observer, D50 illuminant.
