Dell has a model that I have recently had the opportunity to try out at a
client's site:
&sku=320-4335>
It's called the UltraSharp 2407WFP (24"). Contrary to your request, I'm
afraid it is somewhat "widescreen-ish", with its native resolution of 1920 x
1200 pixels.
It offers separate RGB controls (which is more than one can say about the
Apple Cinema Displays...), and responds reasonably well to calibration and
profiling (for which I used the Monaco Optix XR with the Monaco Optix
software).
There is no DDC/CI connectivity available, but that is to be expected at its
low price point.
Talking about which, the price is $879 MSRP, but I have seen it for $750 on
Price Grabber.com. You may find even lower prices elsewhere on the web.
Regards.
