Karl,
The monitors in the 500$ range or below will most probably be
equipped with PVA panels –
What does PVA stand for?
PVA and IPS are 2 different technologies for switching the Liquid
Cristals in LCD monitors.
PVA stands for "Pattern Vertical Alignment"
These panels have a darker black and thus a higher contrast, but the
viewing angle sucks.
BTW the viewing angle values, you find in monitor manufacturer´s
brochures tell you nothing about color fidelity, the just claim that
you can still see "something" at that angle.
Secondly, I would never, ever buy a new LCD monitor without DVI.
Image quality will degrade considerably.
You mean by having my CG21 connected to my Macintosh G4 through the
VGA
analog connector I'm not getting the best image quality I could get
out of
this monitor?!
Correct - you convert from digital (your computer) to analog (VGA
signal) and back to digital in the monitor. There´s always loss in
these conversions!
I am very happy with the EIZO L997 (21") and the NEC Multisync 2090
OK. We'll investigate.
(20"), both are equipped with IPS panels, both are 4x3 format, both
What does ISP stand for?
IPS means "In-Plane Switching"
