What I found on the Altex site was a product called PremierArt Print
Shield Spray Coating spray can and some other coatings that are brush or
roller applied. Is this the product you're referring to? Is it really
invisible when the prints are sprayed?
The 2400 is tempting, but I have such a supply of ink for the 2200 that
it will be a while before I get through it all. I've been looking at
the 4800 as well, however I just went to the Epson site, and they have a
3800 Pro that's a $1,000 less than the 4800 Pro and I can't tell the
difference by the specs. The regular 3800 (without RIP) is only $450
more than the 2400 (Epson's price), and that's not much to go from 13x17
to 17x22.
Right now I'm using the ColorByte ImagePrint RIP on the 2200, and
although their big thing is the paper profiles they provide, I've found
that doing a custom profile through their RIP is significantly better.
The ImagePrint RIP is a rip, however. Expensive to begin with, and not
upgradable to another printer. The packaged ColorBurst on the Pro
Epsons looks like a better deal.
