Hi Ken,
ISO-12640-1 corresponds to the original, still very popular, CMYK SCID
images which everybody uses in color management testing.
To my knowledge, 12640-2 represents sRGB images. And, soon, 12640-3 will
offer CIELab images. I personally look forward to using the two sets of
images in my personal work.
