If you go to www.macwindows.com, and scroll down away, there are reports on Wintel running on the Intel Macs.  The reports are not to good.

The crux of the issue is that the Intel Macs OS uses the Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) to communicate with the CPU.  Currently, Windows uses BIOS.  Ars Technica has an in-depth article.

WinTel 2.0 will let you do this now. It's been updated as a universal binary for Intel Macs, and my guess is that when running on Intel, it doesn't have to emulate an Intel CPU so Windows should run at pretty good performance.
