Hi Group,
I always figured when it came to number of patches
read to make a profile that "more was always better."
Substrate type does temper that decision of course.
On the other side of the coin, when I first started
making profiles with a hand held spectro, I noticed a
dramatic visual increase in profile quality when I
made three samples per patch versus one sample per
patch. (spectroscans were damn expensive back then)
Has anyone made a study of profile quality versus
number of sample per patch? it seems most logical to
assume that the courser a substrate, the more samples
tsken per patch, the more accurate the profile.
Most of what we run where i work is canvas. We've just
switched to a new canvas with a different weave and I
am interested to know if there is a general number of
samples per patch after which little quality increase
is gained? (Sort of like 4000dpi for 35mm slide scans)
My plan is to re-read & average the same target
several times, single read & average several targets
on the same sheet together and compare all to a
profile from a single read of a single target.
