Thanks Dick.
You save me trying to explain why it takes so many people so much time to draw all those little dots on the reproductions.
I've been in SE Asia for some time now, mostly South China. Next week I'm off to Print South China, in Guangzhou. Looks like everything I've ever heard of in the industry is up for sale and exhibition. Over thirty vendors list color solutions and color management as part of their product. If I have time I'll give a little synopsis. This time I'm going specifically for color. Last fall it was for the food.
Also been in about 15 or so plants to date. That's a long story. Let's just say CTP alive and well in South China. Making assumptions about operator skiils, inks and substrates is also a translation game. So, it doesn't matter what country you are the problems remain the same. A blank look in the US is the same as one in China.
Just a note: the same photo/copy shop I asked about color management two years ago (and blanked out) now asks for sRGB or assigns it to all incoming files. Now if I could just get them to calibrate and profile their monitors...;0)
