profiling through a laminate?

The subject line should say it all, but has anyone tried to profile a media post-lamination? A client tells me they have problems with colors shifting after the lamination process (using fine art medias). I started wondering if this could be a problem solved by color management (can't everything)? I'm certainly willing to try a little experiment, but I wonder about the consistency of the materials being used, and the process itself.

Has anybody else tried this, or has a better way to contend with this color shift?
