Roger

I think there is even more happening here.
Just imagine a change in user habits and improved ergonomics:
In Japan the 55 " Versions will be available in limited numbers some time late the 1.
or beginning of the second quarter of 2006. Now I say I think the quality of these
TV devices is good enough to be used as computer monitors, but not in the traditional
sense, instead to be used off a distance of maybe 3-5 meters which would equal
a traditional screen of 21 " a meter away from you.
If you work in a photostudio this means you could move freely away from your camera,
put the 55" monitor on a movable stand and watch what you do on the setup, if you want together
with your customer, or the stylist...............whatever.

The biggest fault in ergonomics with computer work is also the short distance viewing for
all day long, which leads to a severe load of stress for your eyes. To be able to focus on a more natural
distance will be a big improvement as well. Then there is the problem of color shift on different viewing angles.
Using a big viewing device will completely solve this, all persons up to maybe 10-15 will be able to watch such a device with
comparably equal colors and quality.

And finally: if the Monitor comes off your desk and moves to a wall away from you, you do not have to have the computer and
the cabling itself in reach anymore, these can be hidden somewhere, behind the display or the wall where it is attached on.
Now all that is left on your desk is a wireless pointing device, a tablet maybe and a keyboard, a desk becomes a desk again,
doesn´t that alone sound to good to be true ?

I always thought it is kind of rediculous to project a way to use computers in the early times of development
into a future, which holds so much more possibillities. So why should we use desktop monitors forever?
Restricting our phantasy is the worst we can do............

Oh, yes the price of the first SED displays will be around the comparable highend competitors.
So I guess a 55" with 1920x1080 pixels will sell somewhere from 5000-10000 $.

This certainly is a lot of money but give it 2-3 years and we´ll talk about 2-3k $ I´m shure.

Boy I want one _NOW_ !.

This is exciting news, Stefan. I see SED is breathing CRT technology into
LCD..........................
