This is an interesting subject.
Hoping to gain some more education.
If a profile for a digital camera is created by capturing a target of some
kind, wouldn't it be limited by the inherent characteristics of the target
media? I.e. Similar to scanner profiles, transmissive profiles being
"larger" that reflective profiles?

Basically what I'm getting at is that a device, such as a DSLR any be able
to capture an exceptionally large gamut or volume of color, but when it
comes to profiling the profile is only as good as the target?
Or is there a lot of hokery-pokery going on.
