Welcome to my world Andrew...

Mirrored displays make color management, particularly of presentations nearly impossible. You can calibrate one display or the other. It's really annoying for presentations. On the other hand, it is the one configuration that is completely reliable. Many multi-display systems, particularly on non-Mac laptops, offer a different capabilities on each display. For instance, the second display port might not have a LUT capability. Windows laptops have provided at least one software engineer that I know a rather comfortable life....trying to program around the deficiencies.
