Hi Rich,
To covert from L*a*b* to Dot percentage you will need a ICC profile for
the specific device you are using. You can do this in Photoshop. Start
in Lab and then covert to the CMYK color space represented by the profile.
If you want to do heavy duty math, I think the MatLab can read ICC
profiles and do the conversions that you wish.
I think that SouthWest Software has a feature in their software that can
readout approximate predicted density as well.
I don't think you are going to do this in Excel. I could be wrong.
