Dear Rick,
Since they aren't too many replies... Let me give you my two cents.

That's what everybody wants of these products. You're on the right track.

Could be some misinterpretation of the target file which is hardly an inch
by 5 or 6 wide. Depending on the target selected. I don't know off hand all
the various targets supported by Qccolor but if you're talking the FOGRA
Medien Wedge then something is wrong somehwere in your workflow, 10 pages
for such a small target is way too much.

Some folks, and I'm one of those, would like to see the target on every
proof, on every page. But if the RIP is unable to tag it on every page or
the space occupied by the target overwrites the textual page information
(like EFI does) then that approach is unusable.

I find it hard to swallow that only a 21 patch samples is going to reflect
all possible drifting on an Epson 9600 printer. That's why, for my clients,
I use the full ECI2002 Random target. If you happen to have a DTP70 reading
that target for stability control becomes possible. Otherwise, I'd resort to
something smaller. Depending on what kind of instrumentation you have at
your disposal to automate the process, obviously.

Doesn't GMG offer their own quality control add-on?
For my part, I use Prinect QualityMonitor and I'm very satisfied. That's the
package I recommend to my clients.

Both these devices are sufficient for your needs.
