With argyll, one can create a device link that converts from, say, ProPhoto
to sRGB? Turn on gamut mapping on the command line and you're done?
Sounds too easy, Graeme. No blobbing? No ICC v4 perceptual gamut mapping
involved? And it's free?
Oh! By the way, Adobe is supposedly going to incorporate device link
conversions in an upcoming release of Photoshop. At least, a show of hand at
the last GATF Color Management Conference sent that message loud and clear
to Peter Constable. (I have a photo if you want to see that)
So, Graeme, if argyll can create device links that do preserve the tonal
relationship when converting from a larger RGB space to a smaller RGB space,
then it'll be just a matter of applying the device link in our upcoming
release of Photoshop and we'll all be done?
Don't I love this List. Have a nice day everyone. Back to real jobs with
real inks on real papers with real presses for real (tough) customers, doing
the impossible with ICC profiles ;-)
