I think you're over reacting. Just how would you ban anonymity ?

How do you know, for instance, that "Graeme Gill" is not a pseudonym ?
How can you know my "identity" from my email address or purported name ?

On a mailing list like this, it's not "who someone is", it's how
they behave, and what they contribute that's important (unless of course,
your interest is in resorting to legal threats).

By all means challenge someone who claims "X, Y & Z" about some product,
without giving justification, or behaves badly.
Yes, maybe some people might behave with less restraint, if they
are anonymous (and they probably devalue any contribution
they care to make as a consequence), but focussing on their
identity, is missing the point (IMHO).

A more interesting discussion might have ensued, if the
question had been asked of email@hidden,
"You seem to have a problem with ColorEyes. Exactly why do
 you have such a poor opinion of it ?",
ie. prompt some discussion of the subject and perhaps reveal something
of their character, rather than immediately attack the person.
