Scott, can you describe your lighting setup?
I don't have a copy stand setup in my own studio but I've been working closely consulting with a bunch of shops that do over the last 14 years. The Cruse scanner is my favorite design. I have a client that mimics the CruseScan design buy moving custom made 8000x3 pixel camera attached to lights to do copy work up of murals. Anyway, the main thing is that you have high CRI lighting that evenly distributed. I'd love to test a system setup with diffused Solux lights.
For the CruseScan, the HCT gave much better profiles than the other targets we tried.
While I generally favor the design of the HCT targets, I must admit the SG's greater DMax, Dmin and color saturation can have an advantage in some reflective situations.
As with everything in our industry, it's always a good idea to test throughly, exhausting known options so that you can feel confident with your final decision.
