I have been following this thread and from what Marco has stated is quite
often true. However, in the case of printers that use more than cmyk
inks it is either the driver that handles the conversions or you need a RIP
that handles the conversions and the extra inks. And if you get a RIP that
will do that you will need to be sure the rip can do a linearization for all
colors. Then once you get the linearization and profiling correct with
multichannel profiles you will be able to see the difference.
