I am generating test charts to profile at a new printer, and want to exactly duplicate my final output procedure in terms of generating the test: InDesign CS2 to PDF/X-1a. And I will be profiling the target prints output as wet proofs onto the final press output paper (a procedure I've found satisfactory in the past).
I figure for the final output, using files separated via the not-yet-made profile, I will use the profile name as the output identifier (although actually individual images may be separated via profiles with different GCR, derived from the results of the test target print).
But if I want to send a PDF/X-1a document containing the target pages, which will have no embedded profile or predetermined output intent, what should I do about the output intent identifier?
What difference -- other than perhaps a reality check -- does the output intent actually have on the final output?
