1 How much validity is there in creating a camera profile after a conversion to an RGB workspace through a generic input profile?
How's the color? You know the old saying “if it ain’t broke...” If the generic profile or whatever source is being used in a converter (some don’t technically use ICC profiles; Adobe Camera RAW, Aperture and Lightroom come to mind) and the rendering is as you like, you don’t have a problem do you?
2 Is anyone still creating input camera profiles for studio or reproduction work?
Absolutely. But then you need to look at question #1 and based on the converter and results, you can answer #2.
