Is anyone else having a problem using AppleTalk over Airport? My new
PowerBook Pro running 10.4.8 doesn't see printers wirelessly (but
does fine with a wired connection). There is another Airport issue:
the MacBook Pro won't reconnect automatically (I need to reconnect it
manually) to the wireless network when it wakes up from sleep, unlike
all my G4-based Macs running 10.3.9 -- but this issue is more in the
nuisance category. Believe me, I've checked and rechecked all the
settings in the Network pref pane.
With Google's help, I found a couple of Apple "documents" that claim
these problems were fixed back in 10.4.6 or 10.4.7, but I'm running
10.4.8 (which is what this Book shipped with -- and yes, I did run
software update after I got it...) One Apple document has you delete
the networks in the preferred list and then add them again -- I
followed that procedure as well, to no avail.
It's not the first time Apple made this type of error with newly
released hardware, but it is the first time (in my experience) where
an Apple "document" claims the exact problem was fixed in a previous
OS update... which leads me to worry they are considering this case
"closed" (they shouldn't... it's not...)
Armand,
Just had a wireless connectivity issue last night with a new MacBook.
Had to adjust the frequency on the router (higher) and now it works.
¿The difference between an Airport card and an Airport Extreme card?
