I just did a test in Color Think with a profile from the latest SWOP data,
and a duplicate of that profile with the white point edited to match the
GRACoL target. This should give similar results to a relative conversion. As
I understand it, all profiles have a whitepoint in the colorimetric table of
100L 0a 0b, and there is an adaptation to the media whitepoint only in
absolute conversions.
It appears that the scaling is occurring in XYZ as Graeme said. The black
point barely moves but it does move in the +L* -b* direction. Each of the
primaries/ secondaries gains in L* and saturation, but in varying amounts.
