Karl, that means the data is scene referred (colorimetrically correct) which
goes back to the points Thomas Knoll was discussing. Scene referred is
usually quite ugly for lack of a better term when viewed on a device like a
display which is output referred.
I want photographers to forget this idea they are working towards "accurate"
colorimetrically correct color when in almost all cases (copy work not
withstanding), they want pleasing color.
The ICC has a very good basic white paper that discuss this very important
distinction:
