It's more likely
that it is my ignorance that has given me a false sense of understanding.
Naively, I simply compared a 3d graph of the
image file (in Prophoto) containing
the sample colours, with a 3d graph
of the output profile. The sample
colours appear as dots floating outside the range of the output profile. If the
vector option is selected the arrows indicate where each sample colour will be
remapped after the conversion, based on the conversion settings.
But maybe I watched too much
Star trek as a kid. Those vector arrows certainly look like warp speed trails.

Please
forgive my ignorance but, to be honest, I confess I never knew how
to reveal out-of-gamut color using ColorThink. Maybe we can get Steve
Upton involved here and give us a few words about his method?
