Yes, the presence or the absence of a UV filter on the instrument "excites"
or not the fluorence whitening agents in the substrate. I believe that's the
proper technical term to describe this physical phenomenon (or is it
chemical?). That's the one I encounter most in the scientific litterature.

Sounds a lot like "specular included" and "specular excluded", in 0/d8 CIE
parlance. So, if you want me to go there, I'll say measure with UV
filtration and measure without UV filtration.
Incidently, what did you think of the finding I reported? Does that
corroborate with any of your personal experiences with using a UV filter in
the light path for color measuring?
