Epson Proofing
Paper Semi Matte
No Optical Brighteners – have a roll on
the way to test
Way too yellow in my opinion. I tried one
roll and kicked it out.
Xpdex’s Color Lok Satin is a very good
paper, but I have opted to use Mid-States ProofLine Press White
190. It is about 50.00 a roll less and the numbers are comparable

Any
Recommendations for ISO Coated / Fogra Proofing Papers - without Optical
Brighteners?
First off, why the insistence on no optical brighteners? Chances
are, if you're printing in the USA and your printer is using their
"house" gloss coated paper, it's going to have optical brighteners
most likely, on the order of b*-2 to -4.
I'll only comment on the papers that I've personally used but I've also
added a couple at the bottom that you should consider....

Despite it's name ("Commercial" proofing paper), it's more
like a SWOP #3 paper. Dead neutral in terms of a*/b* but noticely yellow
compared to most commercial gloss coated papers currently in use. Not a good
paper in my opinion and too thin for some folks (lots of
"show-through" when placed on top of another proof/press sheet).
GMG ProofPaper

FOGRA Certification - No Optical
Brighteners
Awesome paper, one of the best. Personally I lean towards the GMG Satin
230 as it's slightly bluer and matches more the reality of typical gloss coated
papers.
Add to your list...
Mid-States ProofLine Press White and ProofLine White Satin.
Personally, I like the White Satin 230 (a*0/b*-3) but the Press White
is slightly more neutral. I've used both the White Satin 230 and 190 papers and
it performs awesome on Epson Ultrachrome inks.
