The QTR approach could work, but I have a feeling you would not be getting any better quality than you would running the R2400 in the Advanced B&W mode. Have you tried ABW? If not, I'm curious as to why you aren't using it, since your goal is monochrome prints. In ABW mode you're using mostly black, with trace amounts of the other inks to get a neutral grey, or to tone your prints.
Or you could always profile your machine in PhotoRealistic mode, which has its advantages. But again with the R2400 and the K3 technology that's not really necessary anymore.
Cheers,
-eric- I have an Epson 2400 and assorted profiling tools. At the moment I get good monochrome prints that closely match the screen by running the printer in color mode and using my own color custom profiles - but I feel I may be missing something -
Is there any way to "monochrome profile" the printer to get monochrome prints using only the black inks ?
