The exact behaviour will depend on the profiling software, but
it's generally true that profile tables are not going to be equally
accurate everywhere in their input space, and this applied
to both A2B and B2A tables.
One thing to watch out for is that a forward table will be rather
inaccurate if you feed colors into it that were not within
the gamut of the test chart used to create it. This happens
quite easily if you feed colors in that are over the practical
ink limit applied to the test chart. The A2B table will produce
a result for every possible CMYK combination, but it may bear
little resemblance to reality, if the test chart didn't have
a test value nearby. Some test charts may be a bit sparse in
some areas too.
