I love this thread! This is exactly the kind of color knowledge that is so difficult to come by. Determining CMYK max density during linerization has always been very challenging because I haven't found a fool-proof method of determining just when the magic cut-off point really is. Being too conservative in max ink den and it will leave you wondering if you could have done better. Be too aggressive, and you might have to cut back and start the linerization and profiling steps from scratch.

I'm bringing some new media up to color tomorrow and I'll give Oscar Rysdyk's deltaE wedge theory a go. Thanks!
