A couple of weeks ago I had to take a small job to a printer. For quite
a while now, I've been sending RGB A98 files to my engraver, letting him
do the conversions, but this was a small DTP job, and the printer wanted
CMYK. When I asked what flavor, he said "CMYK". "Yes, but what type of
CMYK would you like me to do the separations to?" He said "CMYK". So
I pulled the profile list up in Photoshop and gave him some choices, and
he picked US Sheetfed Coated v2. "That one sounds good".

When I went for the press check, I didn't have very high expectations,
but he was up to color before I got there and it was right on the
money. All I got for a 200 mile drive was a sign-off and some proof
sheets. It made me want to dump the RGB and start sending out CMYK
files again.

You know, just CMYK.
