I hear you, and for some time I did edit the A2B table because I some
of our retouchers were having trouble, but I learned from trial and
error how truly differently each of us perceives color and how much
our environment affects what we see.
I'd edit the A2B table, and retouchers 1, 2 and 3 will agree that the
soft proof represents the hard proof, but retouchers 4, 5 and 6 said
it was fine the way it was.
Not to mention, retouchers 2, 3, 4 & 5 work in a similar environment,
but retouchers 1 & 6 have a slightly different environment and my
environment is quite different from everyone else, so the proofer
profile that was approved in my environment doesn't necessarily look
as close as we were aiming for at a retoucher's station.
So, for the past year or so, to keep me from ripping out my hair and
to keep the retouchers from printing extra proofs because the printed
proof isn't exactly what they expected, I have them calibrate their
monitors, adjust for simulation (if needed) and then just re-
calibrate every two weeks. This workflow has worked fine for over a
year.
Hmm. Sort of the monitor equivialent of adjusting SID's on press.
