You may wish to reinvestigate this with Karl Lang (if you don’t have his private email, ping me) because using a dynamic range scaling in the actual hardware of the display (control over black and luminance) isn’t something that can be accomplished the same way with ICC profiles. This is the reason the Artisan was built to target various hardware contrast ratio’s thanks to it’s control over black and white, something not easy or perhaps even possible with current CCFL LCDs. The ability to alter the contrast ratio physically in the Artisan, then switch on the fly to other settings is, as far as I know, unique to this 20th century display technology. Too bad!
