Actually, to the extent practical, for critical color matching you do indeed want to at least match the luminance of monitor and print viewing conditions if you can achieve viewing luminances in excess of 100 cd or so. Otherwise you may see differences in colorfulness and contrast at the very least. Because of flare and glare, matching the black points can be a bit more problematic.
