Jeff Schewe:
I would welcome any proof that ANYTHING Adobe has done has had
a negative impact on any photographer's income.
They teach you well at those damage control meetings - impossible to
prove a negative. Gets 'em every time. : >)
See, he's perfectly willing and inclined to blame Adobe for the ills of the
photographic industry but either unwilling or unable to acknowledge that the
ills of the photographic industry are caused by other photographers, not the
purveyors of RF stock.
Ah, satori ! So we should welcome Adobe and others cutting off our
heads to cure our headache?
But it's neither the fault of the stock industry nor Adobe that has
brought this
about. It's other photographers. And until the photographic industry comes
to grips with the reality that photographers are ruining the photographic
industry, nothing will change for the better.
The punitive, reform model - Darn it, we had it coming. And Adobe's
doing us a favor. It's for our own good, not Adobe's bottom line. If
RF shooters were suddenly to decrease in great numbers, Adobe would
not lift a finger to bring them back in? They'd let all that hard work
of building Adobe Royalty Free slip away?
See, that's where this guy is so misguided...he sees the "enemy" as being
Adobe or the RF stock dealers...and they aren't. The enemy of photographers
are themselves.
Absolutely! When I come down to the Adobe farm, I want to chant the
good chant, too.
"Adobe, GOOD !!
"Photographers, B-A-A-D !!"
But the RF toothpaste is out of the tube...and it was pushed out by greedy
(and generally less talented) photographers years ago.
Yep, and those photographers had to fight like hell to get the
middlemen like Adobe to buy into the idea.
It's like the corporate chains selling porn in hotel rooms. It's
already out there, let's embrace it.
Adobe has bent over backwards to try to address the displeasure of
photographers-out of all proportion of the market they represent to Adobe.
But that ain't good enough for Martin.
Those darn, ungrateful kids. You mean the Adobe Photographers'
Directory? Yes, it's a nice consideration, but compare it to the bells
and whistles of Adobe Stock Photos. One was pitched as, "it's gotta be
better than Google or no go". Guess which one? One APD registered
organization has been trying for many, many months to get Adobe to add
accurate cities and regions to the listings. No response, many dead
ends.
As for the photo industry? Screwem...photographers have steadfastly refused
to ever do the right thing for the industry and have historically always
only done what's best for themselves as individuals. Photographers COULD
organize into a much more powerful organization that could have a positive
impact on the industry, but they can't see the forest for the trees...
Too bad you got tired in your fight. I'll be along side you if you
decide to renew it. As Martin said, pro-imaging.org might be the ONLY
organization that's totally opposed to RF, and is growing and
organizing to address that. They can always use a few good people.
To Adobe: "Remember the little people", as they say in Las Vegas.
There are still good people and good things about Adobe, it's the
overall direction that is troubling. We "little people" might need
Adobe right now, but we don't have to love them for double-dealing to
the base that built them.
BTW, what did the printers do wrong?
: >))
