As long as we are discussing DNG files...

When saving a DNG file, the settings for rendering the image are saved
embedded within the file (as opposed to in a sidecar file). When I open a
DNG in Photoshop CS2, the RAW dialog opens and the settings are all in
place. Okay so far...

If I change any of the settings then proceed to ³open² the file into
Photoshop, it seems that the new settings are written to the DNG file that I
just opened‹effectively overwriting my embedded settings even though I never
told it to save anything. The next time I open the DNG file, the changes are
what appear in the RAW dialog, not my original settings.

Does this behavior make any sense to anyone? Is there a preference
controlling this that I¹ve overlooked?

Thanks.
